What to do for Bird Flu

What should I do for Bird Flu ?

Do you really think there is a chance that you or a member of your family has the bird flu?  Do they have the basic symptoms:  body aches, fever, chills & coughing?  Then call your doctor immediately!

Your doctor will be able to help you and may prescribe an antiviral medication like Tamiflu.  Tamiflu, if taken within 48 hours of the start of your symptoms, will stop the flu virus inside your body and keep it from spreading and getting worse.

Additionally remember: the bird flu is still contagious for another 3 or 4 days after the symptoms first appear. So for the best results you should get plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration and for temporary relief:

  •         Drinking hot liquids may relieve some of the congested feeling

  •         Taking "over the counter" products will not remove the virus, but they may help to relieve some of the symptoms

  •         Most importantly:  Never, NEVER  give aspirin to children under the age of 12 who have the bird flu, or any other fever-producing  illness, due to the high danger of an extremely adverse effect known as Reye's syndrome.
